ASRock Fatal1ty X99X Killer Motherboard Revealed – The X99 Gaming Motherboard from ASRock
The ASRock Fatal1ty X99X Killer motherboard is based on the new Intel X99 Chipset that supports the upcoming Intel Haswell-E processors (Intel Core i7-5960X, Core i7-5930K and Core i7-5820K), and features a new LGA 2011-3 socket. It features 8x DIMM slots that supports up to 128GB of DDR4 memory, supporting both ECC and RDIMM. It also features a 12 Phase power design and Super Alloy components. Aside from the CPU socket and DDR4 slots, it draws its power from an 8-pin power connector. There’s also an onboard USB port on the upper right hand portion, and 2x USB 3.0 headers can be found just below the 24-pin motherboard power connector.
The ASRock X99X Killer also features Nichicon 12K Platinum Capacitors and premium alloy chokes. On the rear I/O ports, we see Fatal1ty USB ports, a mouse and keyboard PS/2 combo, 6x USB 3.0 ports, a Killer E2200 LAN port and Intel Gigabit Ethernet port, and audio ports.
On the lower portion of the ASRock Fatal1ty X99X Killer, we see the Killler E2200 core and Purity Sound 2 audio core as well. Purity Sound™ 2 includes 7.1 CH HD audio with Realtek ALC1150 audio codec, 115dB SNR DAC with Differential Amplifier, TI® NE5532 Premium Headset Amplifier, cap less Direct Drive technology, EMI shielding cover, PCB isolate shielding and DTS Connect. You can also see Nichicon fine gold audio capacitors just like in the Z97X Killer motherboard.
The ASRock X99X Killer has 3x PCIE x16 slots with 2x PCIE x1 slots for expansion. It supports both 3-way CrossFireX and Quad SLI. It features an Ultra M.2 PCIe Gen3 x4 slot for NGFF SSD which is faster than your typical M.2 port. There’s another PCIE slot right between the 2nd and 3rd PCIE x16 slots, I think that’s for a LAN card in case you want to go wireless, or just another PCIE slot for NGFF SSD. The motherboard also features two BIOS chips with a BIOS switch located at the bottom of the board.
